I really need to presuade a ME (any ME) to SMS me the Cell ID.
Ideally it would also send things like TA and the list of Cell ID.

The LocInfo.trb only seems to send the MCC and MNC.

I think the Pos.c might provide the functionality I require. However, I lack the skills, tools or operating system (I'm running UBUNTU) to compile it myself.

If anyone can help it would be a life saver.

But locinfo provides CID too. And all what is provided by phone - NMR, TA...
What phone do you use? Maybe it doesn't give you CID? But would be strange, all but really historical do.

You may also upload autoalarm application - this one gives CID/LAC in readable form.

That is what I had hoped.
I've tried it in
- Ericsson T68i
- Nokia 3120
- Nokia 6230
- Nokia 9110
- Nokia 9210
- Nokia 5110
- Siemens MC60

Each time I get
MCC(272)::MNC(02)::
or
MCC(272)::MNC(01)::
depending on whether I use Vodafone or O2 here in Ireland.

What I find most odd is that I have the turbo kit from a project where we logged the CID, BCCH, TA and a whole lot of other data, on both of these networks, on these handsets. So I know Turbo can collect this data, with this setup. This is why I started to think the LocInfo wasn't playing ball. My next step was to look around for alternative apps.

Do you know of a handset that definitely works. I'll happily go out and purchase one.

Or, could you compile Pos.c for me to try?

I will try the AutoAlarm application. Thanks for the tip.

Needless to say your help is much appreciated.
Thanks
H

OK, I've uploaded the Autoalarm.trb and it works well. Although I do have one question (if you happen to know the answer)...

Whereas the documentation describes the State message to include lines starting
NET: 123f45
LAC/CID: 1234/5678

I get...
Net: 272f02/2b61/46ae
...and no LAC/CID line.

I'm assuming that the second and third part of the Net line are LAC/CID. I'll try and establish this by experiment - but if anyone knew that would be great.

Thanks
H

For the sake of closing this out, I thought I should confirm...
Yes, the last part is the Cell ID, in Hex.

Thanks for your help.
