|
|
Hi PZ,
Just wondering if anything has to be done to FakeSim application, to allow it to work with AppleSaft on my TSIM?
As some ppl have had troubles with ISA and AppleSaft, I thought I would ask first.
I really want to put the TSIM to good use in my iPhone, as it has so much potential. The fact that it can help me to use my iPhone was obviously NOT the reason it was developed (as can be seen by how long they have been around), in fact I think it will help me in case it gets stolen ie LOCINFO or KILLSMS sound like they are going to be real handy in at least giving me the satisfaction of knowing that if someone steals my iPhone, they will NOT be able to use it, and I may just be able to get it back. |

Not fakesim and applesaft/isa because they both play with IMSI. But yes, in general applications can cooexist and you can have the location and killing apps together with applesaft/isa/other. |

How was/is your holiday Pavel?
Now that we have the software unlock, I have removed applesaft.trb, and loaded up fake_sim.trb, as I am reluctant to remove my TSIM, as it was very tight fit, and I don't think it will survive another extraction from the iPhone.
I have the Ki number of another SIM I use.
Is there some more detailed instructions available for setting fake_sim up, and also in the usage of it?
Now that we have the turbo commands available on the iPhone, I can load some of the other available apps for the tsim, and have a play.
I think the fake_sim app will be useful to a number of people, and also put the tsim to good use, now that it is not 'needed' for enabling the iPhone. |

I'm interested in a reply on this topic too.
I am interested in using fakesim, but have no idea how to do it (or even get it on the Turbosim??)
Would it be possible if someone made a simple walkthrough, preferably with screenshots, on how to do this and use fakesim?
I would like to use it to try and use a Three SIM in the phone - I figured I could put an Optus SIM on the phone, then switch between it and a three sim using Fakesim. But I was quite annoyed when the Fakesim program download doesn't have any instructions at all!!!
There are alot of forum posts complaining that Bladox can't supply enough turbosims, that they need to seize this iphone opportunity etc etc. It's clearly been shown that they did the *right* thing by closing the shop, especially now that a software unlock is out. There are so many dicks out there trying to get refunds instead of taking the financially responsible option and keeping what they paid for.
My question is- the turbosim seems like such a marvel and seems to have so many possibilities - why then does there seem to be so little documentation here about it? At the very least bladox should make some effort to show people the possibilities and make turbosim easy to use and set up. I would like to see more info on their website on *how* to use turbosim, with walkthrough and guides on doing it. It is such a waste that the potential of this gizmo is untapped purely because no one seems to have bothered to make this chip easy to use. (I am happy to be corrected about this, but so far my searches on how to use fakesim have come up blank except for this thread) |

Unfortunately not, but it's very straightforward. In menu you create new "SIM" - IMSI+Ki needed for this. Then you just select and turn it on. Should work but never tested on iphone (at least by us). |

It's same like other apps, just follow guide for applesaft and only use different application file name.

Sorry, sorry... Fakesim was one of the first apps for Turbo and at that time used only by techies for whom this was easy.
As I wrote - for every SIM you want to fake you need 2 numbers - IMSI (easy) and Ki (hard if impossible), These you enter in, there is fakesim menu item for this, Then you just select this card (in menu) - you may actually have more such fakes in.

Yeah, this was highly irrational market, a lot of kids, people willing to make fortune and so.

Yup, we are quite bad in documenting what we have, simply too many ideas and things to do, The best info we have is documentation for developers, it's quite deep but mainly for technical people, The point is our products are/were/have been for quite niche market - SIM application development. Now it seems to be changing and we will have to improve it. |

http://iphone.simbunch.com/turbosim.php?type=applesaft
shows how to load applesaft.trb to turbo sim in iphone.
Just replace applesaft.trb to fake_sim.trb in example.
OK, got my IMSI and Ki numbers. (Sim Scanner from ebay-SIM reader works, new card 12 in 1 did NOT)
On iPhone
Went to Settings,Phone, Sim Applications
Fake Sim shows in menu.
Select FakeSim menu option
The display shows
New
Default
Select New
Name: Optus
press send
IMSI: 111111111111111111 (18 digit IMSI number)
press send
Ki: 22222222222222222222222222222222 (32 digit Ki )
press send
You have to enter in the 32 digit Ki number As Fast As possible, because the screen times out (must be an iphone thing).
I found that I separated my IMSI number and Ki number into lots of 4 digits, to make input fast.
It kept timing out, but on 3rd attempt, I managed to input full 32 digits before timeout.
I now have a new entry on my Fake Sim menu
New
Default
Optus
By selecting Optus, I can then View (shows IMSI and Ki number) or
Activate.
When I select activate, I go from
'vodafone AU' to 'No Service' to 'yes Optus'
in about 5 seconds.
To get back to 'vodafone AU', I just go back into Fake Sim menu, select Default, and Activate that one. Takes around 5 seconds, and I am back in operation.
So, I only needed the IMSI and Ki of 1 SIM, not both. Which is good, cause I couldn't get the Ki of the vodafone SIM.
I have tested, and all works as expected EXCEPT, I have Summerboard loaded on my iPhone, and it looks like the screen pop of FakeSim is clashing with the Summberboard. End result, blank screen, until I power down, and then back on. At least the TSIM remembers which SIM was the one it was switched to on power up.
UPDATE: Summerboard was the problem, de installed, and all works ok now. Do not need to turn off.
Now, if we could just switch back and forth between the two (or more), then in theory, we could accept an incoming call on both numbers (just not at the same time).
regards
Mark
IMSI and Ki not shown for obvious reasons
Edit: many edits as I tried to get this working, and finally did |
